Fantastic Things You Don't Know About Your Liver~

Image
1. Your liver is actually bigger than your brain!   It sounds crazy but it’s true, your liver is the second largest organ in your body! The skin is your largest organ and the brain comes in at third largest. As an adult, your liver weighs between 1.3kg and 1.8kg. 2. The liver is the only organ that is self-regenerating - like a starfish or cicak tail    That’s what makes liver transplants possible. When someone donates part of their liver, both the donated part and the part left behind are able to regrow themselves into a complete, fully-functioning liver. The liver can do this even if only 25% of it is left working. 3. It plays a double role by functioning as both an organ and a gland    When asked, most people would probably categorise the liver as an organ but many may not know that the liver is also considered a gland. This is because it both performs important bodily functions that are essential to your...

Malaysian and their craze over food.

Image
2017 has been a truly interesting year for believers in the "live to eat" philosophy, with one mind-blowing new dish after another to look forward to   Here are the top 9 viral foods that stole the spotlight this year: 1. Halal food in Japan

1. Okaki Most people have tried rice cake/crackers at least once before, right? If not, say hello to Okaki, made of glutinous rice that’s polished, steamed, left to dry and baked/fried to delicious goodness. Sounds simple but the process to producing Okaki can take up to 1 week to complete (Japanese and their pursuit of perfection ). Head over to Hyobando, located behind Asakusa Kaminari-mon Gate and stock up on  okaki  or traditional Japanese rice crackers. Yummy flavours include seaweed, red pepper, wasabi and matcha  Wasabi is hands down the best seller – no surprises there! Don’t be confused by okaki and senbei, though both are made from rice and both are crackers. The difference is that senbei is made from uruchimai, a non-glutinous rice. Texture wise, it would be different! 2. Kibi-dango Ready for a fun story to accompany your meal? Once upon a time, an old woman went to the riverside to wash clothes. She then...
